1. Creative Integrity & Exclusivity
The entry or entries must be a 100% original and created by the entrant. To maintain the prestige of the awards, work must be previously unpublished. This includes social media, "behind-the-scenes" sneak peeks, or outtakes from the same session. While the entrant is welcome to use the same model, the hair and styling must be a fresh, distinct concept from any other work.
Images entered into the New Zealand Hair Awards cannot be shared on social media or entered into other competitions until our finalists are officially announced.
2. Copyright & Intellectual Property
While the entrant and photographer retain the copyright to the work, the entrant must ensure they have full permission to enter. By entering, the entrant confirms they have a written agreement or license from the photographer and creative team allowing the New Zealand Hair Awards and H&BNZ to feature their imagery across our media platforms and events.
3. AI Generation
All editorial images must feature work executed on real people. The use of AI-generated models, AI-generated hair, or mannequins as models is strictly prohibited. Entrants are required to capture one behind-the-scenes photograph on a mobile device at the time of the photoshoot, clearly showing the model. This image must be retained in its original, unedited form and provided upon request as evidence that AI has not been used. Post-production is permitted for general image enhancement, including adjustments to the model, wardrobe, or background, and the removal of minor imperfections such as stray hairs, provided that the integrity of the hair and the workmanship remain unchanged. The use of Photoshop or similar software to alter the colour, texture, or any defining characteristics of the hair is strictly prohibited.
4. Reproduction Rights
For three years following the closing date, the New Zealand Hair Awards and H&BNZ may showcase the entries across any current or future media platforms.
